For over three decades, Dennis L. Martire has been a key figure in the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA). As Vice President and Regional Manager of the Mid-Atlantic region since 2002, he has driven significant progress for laborers’ rights and working conditions.

A Path to Leadership

Martire earned a Bachelor of Science in Government from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1986. Joining LIUNA in 1990 as an International Representative, he advanced through roles as Assistant Director and Director of the construction department. By 2000, he was Assistant Regional Manager, and in 2002, he was elected Vice President. A member of Labor Union #1058, Martire’s personal ties to labor fuel his advocacy.

Transformative Achievements

Martire led the unionization of over 200 workers on Virginia’s Route 495 hot lanes project, a major win for the construction industry. He has also secured fair wages in Maryland and oversees LIUNA’s training initiatives. His leadership extends to boards like the Mid-Atlantic Laborers’ Political League.
